The Need for Metal Sheds: Extremely Multipurpose!

Steel sheds are so versatile they allow for flexible architectural designs and adaptable functionality, fulfilling almost any needs you can imagine. They are also easy to expand and move. Unlike wooden and concrete structures, you can always bring metal sheds with you when you decide to move to another place. Here are some of the common use-cases:

Storage space

you could use a custom shed as a catch-all storage space for all the stuff you don’t want lying around in your home. For example, holiday decorations, work files, old toys, and outdoor furniture, yard sale items, among others.

Housing machines/ equipment

These sheds provide the ideal storage space outside your main house. Use it to shelter your gardening tools, lawnmowers, work tools, and so much more.

Greenhouse

it is easy to install ventilation systems, wiring, and partitions on steel sheds, making them perfect for secure greenhouses.

Workshops and home office spaces

need a space to store your tools and do some projects? You got it!

Man caves and she sheds

sometimes, you just need a private space to call your own. To fill it with the things that define and make you happy. You have quite an affordable solution with metal sheds.

Playhouse

get the kids off those screens by creating the perfect space for them to play interactive games. Add some soft flooring, choose bright colors, and fill it with toys or other things they like.

Pick the Roof Style You Want

Roofs give your structure its final appearance. Without the roof, it is just another box with flat edges. But there’s more to it – the right roof style could be economical, durable, resistant to the elements, or attractive.

Regular Roof

Regular Roof

The most basic and affordable style is the regular roof, with a simple design that features appealing curvatures. The panels in a regular roof are horizontal, such that the ridges run parallel to the sides. Also, the roof curves onto the legs on the sides. This design uses fewer materials and cuts on costs but doesn’t allow for the most effective displacement of loads such as snow, rain, and leaves. For moderate weather conditions, however, it gets the job done.

A-Frame Horizontal Roof

A-Frame Horizontal Roof

Just like in the regular roof, the panels here are parallel to the sides. However, it has the standard A-frame look, which resembles conventional buildings more closely. This roof gives the material- and cost-efficiency of the regular roof alongside the appeal of a vertical roof. But, again, if you expect heavy precipitation and insane winds, you might want to look into the vertical roof.

Vertical Roof

Vertical Roof

This is the style you want to go with when looking for the most strength and efficiency. Since the ridges run in a top-down fashion, it displaces loads very efficiently. Additionally, it comes with extra hat channels to support the roof, which also contributes to the overall sturdiness of the structure. A vertical roof is also attractive and complements the surrounding buildings perfectly.

Selecting the right roof is essential. Talk to one of our American Metal Buildings specialist if you’re not sure which roof best suits your needs.

Everything about Our Metal Sheds is Customizable!

Other than their durability, affordability, sustainability, and strength, American Metal Buildings loves providing steel buildings for the ease with which they are customizable. We allow our customers to decide how they want every fine detail to look, including the roof, frame-outs, colors, windows, doors, anchors, trims, and so much more.

Size

Our sizes are so flexible you can have your shed in any dimension. All dimensions – width, length, and height – are fully customizable. That way, no matter how limited your space or how big you want to go, there’ll always be something for you.

Color

Everyone has their favorite or preference, depending on various needs. We have over 15 color choices for our customers to pick. What’s more, you can have unique colors on different parts of the building for the best outcome. The trims, doors, roof, and walls could all come in different or the same colors.

  • Black

  • Burgundy

  • Brown

  • Green Forest

  • Quaker Gray

  • Pewter Gray

  • Hawaiian Blue

  • White

  • Mocha Tan

  • Light Stone

  • Taupe

  • P. Beige

  • Barn Red

  • Clay

  • Galvalume

* Color samples may vary slightly from actual colors.

Doors

American Metal Buildings has both roll-up doors and walking doors for you. We have various sizes available, and you can choose to install any number of entries. But your hands are not tied here. There’s always the option of leaving one side or end open. Also, you could choose to have a frame-out without a door.

Windows

Would you like to have some natural lighting or ventilation? Consider a few windows to complete your building. You could have them on any wall, left, right, or center. The only exception is where there is a leg. We do not recommend cutting through the structural elements to install windows.

12- and 14-Gauge Galvanized Steel framing

We use galvanized steel frames for astounding protection and durability. You can choose to go with either 12-gauge or 14-gauge. Depending on the natural forces that you expect your building to battle and the durability standards you would like to set, either of these gauges could work.

14-gauge is okay. It fairs well under moderate weather conditions, and with additional supports and braces, you could have a 14-gauge certified building. However, 12-gauge is thicker, stronger, and more durable. It is the most suitable where you need adequate protection against harsh weather, or when you want to go all robust on your building.

26- and 29-Gauge Sheeting

For your roof, you get to choose between these two gauges. Although they both have the same appearance once installed, you can expect more reliable protection from 26-gauge panels. They are thicker, stronger, and more resistant to denting. If your building will have to withstand heavy snow, strong winds, and heavy rains, consider using 26-gauge sheets.

Certifications

We have both certified and non-certified prefab sheds. Just like with the gauges, our certified structures are more reliable and longer-lasting. They also come with all the necessary documentation for passing building inspection. That is if your regional authorities have regulations regarding metal building certification. With a certified building, your belongings will always have added protection against the elements.

Yet this doesn’t mean that a non-certified structure will put your things at risk. If you don’t experience much wind, snow, or rain in your region, a non-certified building will still do you an excellent service. But going certified is a great idea, even when you don’t have to abide to any laws, because of the extra protection and durability.

Flexible Sizes and Affordable Price Tags on Metal Sheds

Metal shed sizes start at 12’x21’ (12’ being the width) and can go wider or longer depending on your needs and preferences. As for the prices, they are subject to various factors – like size, roof styles, added customizations, and location. In general, they start selling at $1,500.

Metal Shed Kits

A Steel Shed Kit comes with all the parts you need to assemble your metal shed on-site, including the frames, roof, and wall coverings. You also get all the screws and bolts. The holes where they go come pre-punched. As you may be already thinking, metal shed kits come with a ton of benefits, including saving on time and money. Here’s a breakdown of some of the key advantages:

  • Quick and easy assembly: the parts fall in place seamlessly, and most of them are bolt-up designs, allowing you to assemble the building quickly and reduce the construction timeline. There is also a little-to-no need for on-site modifications.
  • Custom Options: they come in a wide range of standard building sizes, with a variety of color options. Moreover, you get to choose whether or not to include various elements such as sidewalls, end walls, doors, anchors, and frame-outs.
  • Durable, Sturdy, and Reliable: the prefabrication of your building occurs under strictly controlled conditions and high levels of quality control. The building kits undergo a thorough inspection before leaving the factory. Once your building is up, it will withstand heavy precipitation, high winds, and seismic activities better than traditional buildings. It will also be resistant to corrosion, fire, and attack from animals.
  • Low maintenance: you only have to clean the building. No worrying about rot, molds, or termites!
  • An environmentally sound way to go: firstly, by eliminating the need for on-site modification, we reduce material wastage and risks to the environment. Then, things get more impressive when you consider the fact that steel is 100% recyclable. And let’s not forget the high strength-to-weight ratio, which takes up less energy during transportation and installation of your building, thereby reducing emissions.
