Important Considerations before Buying 52’-60’ Wide Metal Buildings
Buying a 52’-60’ Wide Steel Building is a long-term investment. You want to be sure, and that means doing some research to know what to expect. Here are the essential things you have to consider before adding to cart:
Understand Your Needs and Building Types
But you already knew that, right? Anyways, just so we are not taking any chances with your hard-earned money, let’s give you a few reminders. What is it going to be protecting, and do you have different plans for the future? The good news is that metal buildings are diverse enough to use for any application. And you can always expand the building both horizontally and vertically. Be sure to ask your dealer as many questions as possible for clarity.
The last thing you want is being told, “you can’t put up that structure here” after the parts have arrived. All states/cities have some sort of regulation for the quality of buildings and installation procedures. Investigate the permit requirements and guidelines for your area. You could go to the local authorities, the web, or consult your dealer.
Space and Foundation
Do you have space for it? If yes, go ahead and ensure that the building site is level. This will provide safety for your building as opposed to unleveled land. You also want to select the right type of foundation, depending on the soil conditions as well as expected loads.
How much are you willing to part with? Does your building guy offer financing options in case you need it? Again, your building specialist should be able to give you the fine details.
Your dealer should be able to back up the structure with reasonable metal building warranties. That way, you know that even they are confident in the products they offer. As a bonus, they should also be able to deliver and install for you at no cost. 52’-60’ Wide Metal Buildings by American Metal Buildings come with specific wind and snow loads warranties, 20-year rust-through warranty, 1-year warranty on workmanship, and a 10-year one for the roofing.
Size and Specs of Large Metal Buildings
These buildings are as gigantic as they come. The widths start at 52 feet and increase in bits of 2 feet, all the way up to 60 feet. The lengths start at 21 feet and just keep going on, as far as the eye can see. For example, we have 50×21, 50×80, 54×36, even 60×300, and much more. We can also join two buildings to form a single massive one. The heights vary as well, and we can go as high or low as you want. No matter how much space you need, we can shelter it with our 52’-60’ Wide Custom Build.
Other than the size, most of the other features are fully customizable as well. We understand that everyone has unique needs and preferences, so we allow you to choose as much as possible.
Large buildings of this magnitude come with a vertical roof only, and it is very intentional. Only vertical roofs can take the weight and loads that come with such large spans while contributing to the overall sturdiness of the building. By laying out the roofing panels vertically, we allow snow, leaves, and debris to slide right off instead of accumulating and weighing down on the roof.
Besides, vertical roofs come with extra hat channels that enhance the sturdiness of the structure. The vertical roofs on our 52’-60’ Wide Prefab Buildings can withstand heavy snow loads, high wind speeds, and heavy rains without compromising the safety of your things.
We all have our favorites. Then there’s the issue of creating a mood with colors that complement our businesses. Or merely matching the appearance of your surroundings. Whatever your reason for preferring one color over another, you always get a comprehensive palette with us. We have over 15 different colors and shades that you can mix and match to create the perfect look that’s on your mind.
12- and 14-Gauge Tubing
For the frame, you can pick between 12-gauge and 14-gauge. 12-gauge is thicker and stronger. It is the most suitable to handle dynamic and heavy loads. At such large spans, we strongly advise you to consider 12-gauge tubing. 12-gauge frames are the kind we use on our certified steel structures.
26- and 29-Gauge Sheeting
The roofing panels come with a 26-gauge or 29-gauge thickness. 29-gauge is less thick and can only handle light loads. You can go with 29-gauge to cut on costs and only if you don’t expect much wind and snow loads in your area. Otherwise, 26-gauge goes much better with a 52’-60’ Wide Steel Building. It is stronger and resists denting much better.
How many and what type of doors would you like? You can have roll-up doors, walk-in doors, or a mix of both according to your specific needs. Roll-up doors are durable, space-saving, secure, and cost-effective. They are also great for large entrances/exits.
On the other hand, you might want to consider walk-in doors where there’s significant human traffic or if you don’t need a wide opening. Walk-in doors are much easier to repeatedly open and close when you have people going in out of the building all the time.
Add some authentic natural lighting to your building with windows. You could go with fixed windows, sliding windows, or any other that suits your taste. We can install windows on any side of the building, any height, and any position (right, left, or center).
If you need your windows at an exact location, be sure to consult your design specialist in advance to arrange for proper placement of the legs. Cutting through the legs to create space for windows could compromise the structure as well as your warranty.
You are going to need this for your window and door installations. As the name suggests, they form a frame around the windows and doors. Frame-outs act as an interface between the walls and the windows or doors. They allow for a smooth transition, resulting in the precise and firm placement of your doors and windows. These, too, can be custom-painted with the color of your choice.
The gable style features two sloping roof sides that meet at the top to form a ridge. They are the triangular-shaped roofs you see on most buildings. The part of the building with that triangular shape is the gable end, while the other side is the eave. The gable style is simple but effective. Their original roofline makes them perfect for a variety of uses such as garages, workshops, warehouses, self-storage units, industrial and commercial facilities, and so much more!
The final pieces of the puzzle when installing your metal building are the anchors. You want to be sure that everything is correctly anchored to the ground so that your structure can withstand even the fiercest winds. Can you imagine how it would feel if you got everything but the anchors right and woke up to find your building upside down?
- Rebar anchors are the most basic of all anchors. They are only suitable for installations on soft or hard ground surfaces in areas that don’t experience strong winds. Rebar anchors do not offer the best protection, and especially not for a 52’-60’ Wide Custom Building. Moreover, they do not come with a wind warranty. You might want to consider other types of anchors on this list for better protection.
- Mobile home anchors: again, this is for ground installations and work quite well on both loose and hard surfaces. Mobile home anchors are much better than rebar anchors. They are screwed into the ground and latched onto the base rails to secure the whole building. This is the type of anchor you want when installing on the ground. They even come with a wind warranty.
- Concrete anchors: when installing on concrete slabs, this anchor is precisely what you need. They go into holes drilled on the slab and expand once fastened, locking into the hole. Concrete anchors are highly effective. They hold up well under strong winds and come with a warranty to prove the point.
- Asphalt anchors: concrete anchors are great, and they have a simple mechanism that provides adequate protection. However, they can’t be used on asphalt foundations as they could cause cracking. For your asphalt installation, you want specialized anchors that work hand in hand with grout. The grout goes into a hole drilled on the foundation, and before it cures, we insert the anchor. Curing occurs in just about 15 minutes, although it takes longer to reach maximum strength.
A certified 52’-60’ Wide Metal Building meets your local wind and snow loads minimum requirements. It is made of durable 12-gauge steel and has additional bracings as well as supports. Certified metal buildings offer guaranteed protection.
They are also much more trustworthy as they come with all the relevant documentation, to help you pass building inspection. Not to forget, they also carry better warranties than non-certified ones. You can choose to go certified for exceptional safety and peace of mind, even when there are no certified building regulations in your state.
Endless Possibilities with 52’-60’ Wide Buildings
Giant prefab steel buildings come with numerous unique features. They are sturdy, durable, flexible, affordable, and have a low operational cost. Another feature that sets them apart is their clear span, which gives you all the open floor space to design your interior as you please. Not forgetting, steel is safe. It does not rot, succumb to mold, or catch fires. And termites can’t even dare dream to attack.
